Injunction

Examples
(1) A person believes their home was incorrectly condemned. The court can order an injunction preventing any actions to tear down the home until after the case is over. (2) Company wants to publish a book that is full of defamatory statements, the court can issue a temporary injunction while the case is pending AND/OR can issue a permanent injunction preventing the company from publishing the defamatory statements at all.
Comments
This is similar to a restraining order but can provide more restrictions than simply staying away from a person/place. Why an injunction? Because it is better to avoid harm in the first place than to try to compensate for it later.
Definition
An order to prevent a person from taking certain actions or to require them to continue certain actions. The court can issue a temporary injunction to prevent harm while a case is being litigated.
